How it works

At Sarah Gould Architect, I pride myself on a personal service that is second to none. With many years experience, understanding exactly what the family juggle for space is like, it fills me with joy to see a home become even better with a new lease of life.

I also understand how daunting it can feel to start the process of adding to your home. Plans, surveys, permissions, contractors and building work, can all feel like too much, so I've broken it down into easy to understand sections below, so it needn't feel too intimidating at all.

Take a look through the processes below, and see how I can help you on the path to loving where you live.

In order to make sure that we can work together; I would visit you to discuss your requirements.  I will also advise whether there are any issues or restrictions that I am aware of aswell as any surveys that may be required.  If you would like to go ahead, I will arrange a measured survey of the property to ensure that there are accurate plans to work from.

We will produce a number of designs for consideration.  This is a collaborative phase with revisions and amendments updated until a final design is reached.

The design will then be prepared for a submission to the Local Authority.  We will liaise with the Planning department during the determination phase and assist with any additional information required. The Local Authority can take 8-12 weeks to provide a decision.

Once Planning permission has been granted, we will liaise with consultants to produce a drawing package for submission to Building Control in order to gain Building Regulations approval. The Local Authority can take 4-6 weeks to provide a decision.
